BeCode and SAP are launching new training paths

by Nov 16, 2020News

In January 2021, BeCode will launch training courses for various SAP software solutions in Antwerp. Thanks to a partnership between BeCode and SAP, jobseekers will be able to get an SAP certificate within a few weeks. Belgian companies are in demand for an SAP-trained workforce and participants will therefore be able to find jobs in a growing sector, with many opportunities. This pilot project is being set up with the support of the City of Antwerp.

The society we live in is rapidly changing, both on technological and digital aspects. And these changes are affecting every aspect of our lives. The coronavirus crisis has highlighted the opportunities and challenges arising from digital technologies.

To answer the difficulty of filling certain vacancies, BeCode decided to focus on the “rough diamonds” of our society. This training center of a new kind has already trained more than 1,200 jobseekers and school graduates. It offers them the opportunity to become programmers in a practical and accessible way, with a high rate of subsequent employment. ‘Every day, we welcome people who are looking for an exciting job and who are ready to take the training that will help them,’ explains Karen Boers, CEO of BeCode. ‘We want to bridge the gap between highly motivated jobseekers and the demand on the job market, by providing relevant trainings and by bringing these two parties together. ‘

All this is done in close collaboration with the industry, which is a major advantage for SAP.  ‘In Belgian companies, there are currently more than 6,000 vacancies for SAP-trained profiles,’ says Stijn De Beukelaer, Managing Director at SAP Belgium and Luxembourg. ‘These vacancies need to be filled in order to guarantee the competitiveness of the sector. After all, this is an essential part of the ever-increasing digitalization of companies. This figure will increase even more in view of the growing impact of technology in the upcoming years.’

With their collaboration, BeCode and SAP wish to offer future career paths to candidates willing to add a digital dimension to their professional skills. This offer is particularly aimed at HR, finance, logistics or sales professionals who want to learn how to use digital solutions as SAP end users within their field of expertise. It is also aimed at who wish to become SAP consultants to help companies in their

digital transition. The goal is to start training at least 100 people. After the launch in Antwerp, the SAP training courses will be rolled out to the BeCode campuses in Brussels, Ghent, Liège and Charleroi.

‘We recruit candidates based on their motivation and potential. It’s an approach that works and that has proven its worth, given  the high proportion of graduates who immediately find a job,’ confirms Karen Boers. “More than ever before, employers are willing to make their choices based on skills rather than education, which is something we can be pleased about.’

Stijn De Beuckelaer: ‘This new partnership with BeCode offers jobseekers a solid professional basis and a future perspective. The positions they will be able to fill, will offer them job security, the opportunity to work for large Belgian companies and an attractive salary. ‘

Helping employers and jobseekers in uncertain times
This summer, BeCode responded to a call for projects from the City of Antwerp, promoting employment and stability of employment. The coding school received a municipal subsidy of 110,000 euros for the implementation of this training course. Claude Marinower, Alderman for the Economy, Employment, Innovation and Digitalization: ‘In the field of employment too, the COVID-19 crisis is generating big challenges that require quick action. Together with the City, we are taking action whenever possible. We do this, for example, by focusing on innovative projects, such as BeCode. The digital sector is booming and it is through training that we will be able to guarantee job opportunities in the future. We are convinced that the pilot project, launched in Antwerp, will be a success and that it will guide a big amount of people towards a job. The project can later be continued throughout the country. ‘
