The Femme Forward program was designed as an optional module for learners enrolled in our AI and Web Development bootcamps. This initiative aimed to introduce participants to cloud computing, equipping them with foundational knowledge and enhancing their employability in the IT industry. By integrating cloud education into broader IT training, we provided learners with complementary skills that prepare them for careers in the tech sector.

Participants

  • Initial number of participants: 43
  • Participants who completed the program: 43
  • Participants who attempted the AWS Cloud Practitioner certification: 27
  • Participants certified (as of the project’s closing date): 13

Additionally, by the end of the course, 33 participants had begun internships, marking a significant step toward their career development.

Training content and methodology
The program content was developed with support from AWS and Simplon.co. While the curriculum was largely theoretical, it provided an excellent foundation for entering the cloud environment. Simplon.co also supported us in integrating active learning and project-based approaches to make the training as engaging as possible.

Opportunities

    • The course offered participants a solid entry point into cloud computing, complementing their existing IT training and broadening their career opportunities.
    • Trainers gained valuable technical and pedagogical expertise, including AWS certification and active pedagogy techniques.

Support and collaboration

Support received
AWS provided knowledge about the certification process, while Simplon.co contributed insights on active learning strategies.

Support provided
We shared our student sourcing methodology, particularly for female trainees from previous BeCode sessions, during consortium meetings. Additionally, we collaborated with partners to implement active and project-based learning.

Conclusion
The AWS Cloud Practitioner Training Program has proven to be a valuable addition to our IT bootcamps, providing participants with critical cloud computing skills and enhancing their readiness for the tech industry. Despite the challenges, the outcomes—including certifications, internships, and stronger community engage
ment—underscore the program’s success and potential for future iterations.
