Frequently Asked Questions

Asking questions is the first way to begin change.

Is BeCode something for me?

  • Are you looking for work and are you registered at Actiris, Forem, Bruxelles Formation or VDAB?
  • Are you over 18 years old?
  • Do you want to learn new skills in order to start working in a sector with a lot of future perspectives
  • Traditional learning methods are not for you and you need a more hands-on approach?

Then you are more than welcome! Our courses are accessible to everyone. We do not attach any importance to your last diploma, experience, income or age. What interests us is your motivation!

What will I get from BeCode?

We do offer a learning environment where you can hone your technical skills and develop soft skills. You will get a roof over your head, a comfortable office chair, WiFI, coffee, nice colleagues and a coaching team who will regularly give you a helping hand. In return, we expect personal commitment and ask you to step out of your comfort zone. So you are able to make the most of your seven month training and can get back on the job market.

How much does a training at BeCode cost?

At BeCode we do like to invest in your future! The training costs are fully covered by BeCode’s partners and sponsors so you don’t have to pay any tuition fee.

I don't know anything about computer science or programming, can I register for a training at BeCode?

Absolutely! No prior knowledge is required to start a web development training at BeCode. However, you need to get along with computers, to Google well and not shy away from finding a solution for every problem.

For our advanced trainings, AI data operator & DevSecOps, we do require some prior programming knowledge.

To be able to follow our SAP consultant or end-user training, we expect you to have some basic knowledge of logistic business processes, you need to know what SAP consists of and you need to be able to get along with computers and Google.

Check out the training pages for more detail on what’s expected from you.

What pedagogy do you use at BeCode?

Self-study together. At BeCode you learn by experimenting. When you are confronted with a problem, you are encouraged to look for a solution via Google or to enlist the help of your fellow students. If the problem is too complex, the coaches will gladly give you some tips, but they will never give you a ready-made solution.

Yes, in order to follow our trainings, you will need to have your own laptop with these technical specifications:

If you do not own the required material, it’s possible to purchase refurbished laptops at a reduced price on Refurbo, ReMarkt and Refurblaptops.

If your financial means do not enable you to make such a purchase, we invite you to get in touch with us so we can find together the most suitable solution for you.

We do benefit from the support of several companies and associations that provide us with material to help our learners, but in limited quantities.

Come to info sessions, workshops and show us your motivation! In anticipation of the selections, it is useful to gain more in-depth knowledge of the field you want to start a career in.

Do you also offer an evening course or an online course?

Not at the moment, but Bruxelles Formation and Le Forem do offer a series of online courses within IT.

When will I know whether my application has been accepted?

After we have received your completed registration form, you will be invited to one of our selection days. You will receive this invitation no later than two working days after the registration deadline.

How do the selections go exactly?

The selections are organised on two consecutive days. On one of these days, you will be invited to meet our three panels and complete a group assignment. Based on the results of all panels, the team will decide whether or not you can start the training. You will be informed of this by email (be sure to check your spam).

I was unable to register in time for the training, can I still register afterwards?

In order to give all candidates equal opportunities, we do not accept any more registrations after the end of the registration period. We would like to invite you to register for the next course at that campus or to register for a course at one of our other campuses.

I was not selected the first time, can I register again?

Absolutely! We assume that you have learned a lot since your first enrolment. Our door is wide open for you.

When do the trainings start?

The following trainings are listed by campus on our apply now page. This page is updated regularly, so keep an eye on it if you are interested in starting a training at a specific campus.

In which language is the BeCode training given?

Our web development training is given in French or Dutch, but a good spoken and written knowledge of English is recommended as most programming languages rely on it. Our other courses, artificial intelligence, DevSecOps and SAP are given entirely in English, but don’t let this deter you. If you are willing to improve your knowledge of English, the group will be happy to lend you a hand.

Tip: From now on, watch your TV shows and films with English subtitles.

What happens if I decide to quit the training?

We work closely with VDAB, Actiris, Le Forem and Bruxelles Formation to continuously optimise your learning experience. If you do decide to quit the training, we advise you to discuss with your job counselor what the possible impact of this could be on your unemployment benefit.

  • You become ill and are therefore no longer able to follow the programme.
  • You find a job with a contract of at least one month.
  • You find yourself in a situation of force majeure.

What are the conditions for successfully completing my training at BeCode?

BeCode offers you the opportunity to follow a training in a domain with a lot of future perspective. In order to graduate, we expect you to:

    • In case of three absences that cannot be justified, a call for an individual conversation will follow.
    • Six irresponsible absences lead to a definitive exclusion.

Do you obtain a certificate at the end of the BeCode training?

At the end of the training you will receive a certificate from Junior Web Developer, AI Data Operator, DevOps, SAP consultant or SAP end-user.

What should I do if I cannot reach BeCode by telephone?

You may have already experienced it in person, but at BeCode we are not a fan of telephone contact. This is not because we don’t want to talk to you, but the telephone was invented in 1876 and therefore we consider this communication channel rather old-fashioned. We offer you a lot of other possibilities to contact us. (insert hyperlinks)
